Crumbs! Australian supermarket giant Coles are set to re-brand their Creole Creams after one of Brisbane’s indigenous leaders complained that the labelling was a regression to the days of Nazism. Sam Watson, Deputy Director of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Unit at the University of Queensland, believes the naming of the vanilla-centred, chocolate-coated cookies is racially loaded – a Creole being, to quote the Chambers English dictionary, a native-born West Indian or Latin American of mixed European and Negro blood.

Coles have, despite their plans to rename the biscuits, refuted the claims of cultural insensitivity, insisting instead that the Creole reference is to the legendry cuisine of the same name. Yet again, political correctness rears its ugly head in the aisles of confectionary and general foodstuffs – though even I concede that the Dutch marshmallows previously known as ‘Nigger Kisses’ were pushing the limits of decency.
Christ, you couldn’t make this shit up if you tried . . . .

This shit makes me so angry… It polarizes society over a matter totally blown out of proportion (fucking bandwagons)… It’s too bad a lot of people aren’t intelligent enough to think about the issue critically. newstainment =! reality.
