We all know the words sung to the tune of the Colonel Bogey March:
Hitler has only got one ball,
Göring has two but very small,
Himmler is somewhat sim’lar,
But poor Goebbels has no balls at all.
And, of course, the multitude of variants regarding the Albert Hall, Hitler’s mother, etc. But according to an interesting looking new book about General Francisco Franco’s brother Ramón out later this week, Hitler wasn’t the only monorchic (possessing only one testicle) dictator – or rather, *alleged* monorchic dictator – of the twentieth century.
In ‘Franco, el republicano. La vida secreta de Ramón Franco’ Spanish journalist and historian José Maria Zavala puts forward the notion that El Caudillo (Generalissimo Franco), who ruled Spain for decades after the civil war may also have only been in possession of one testicle. Details of the dictator’s scrotal condition were given to the journalist by the granddaughter of a urologist who once treated him. In 1916, during a battle at El Biutz, near what is now the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in Northern Morocco, Franco was seriously wounded in the abdomen. It’s here that he ended up losing one of his huevos. Or so says the urologist’s granddaughter.

Hitler And Franco
Coincidentally, it was in the same year that Adolf Hitler allegedly lost one on the battlefield too. Despite claims that it was removed after he suffered a groin injury on the Somme, proof of which was later confirmed (supposedly) during a VD test and then posthumously during an autopsy the Soviets (again, supposedly) carried out on his corpse, there’s no conclusive proof of any kind that he did only have the one ball. The same appears to be the case with Franco. Load of bollocks? I’d say so. . . .
