It may, however, and I emphasise ‘may,’ soon be the recognised home of the world’s oldest woman, though. Gulsara Bekmuradova, from a remote mountain village in south-eastern Uzbekistan, has just turned 119 according to a regional administrator.
Her documents state that her year of birth was 1890, when everything was in black and white, there’s was no internet and teeth were a luxury. Her husband died during World War Two, and she has had three sons, two daughters, and over one hundred grand children, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Cripes. . . .
If her age is proven then she’ll take the ‘World’s Oldest’ crown from Portugal’s Maria de Jesus dos Santos, who’s verified to be 115. Ah, but hold on a minute. You see there’s another contender who’s also after the title, and she comes in at an alleged 128. One. . . hundred. . . and. . . twenty. . . eight!
Tuty Yusupova, who is coincidentally also an Uzbek, was born in 1880 – or rather she claims to have been:

Hmmm. Of course, both of the cases will need to be verified before anyone gets too exited. Either way, we must never forget that old people are just so funny.
