An unnamed lady from Nikopol in the Dnipropetrovsk Region of central Ukraine has been arrested on suspicion of killing and dismembering her husband, and then disposing of his body at a reservoir. Passers-by (most likely dog walkers, they usually are) discovered the gruesome headless and limbless remains lying on the ice.
Police chief, Vitaly Kodiya is cited as saying that the man’s head and limbs were discovered shortly afterwards in a dustbin. They were soon identified as those of a former Soviet special forces paratrooper who’d fought in Afghanistan.
According to kriminal.tv, his wife killed him after he attempted to practise sambo moves on her. Sambo, a modern martial art that crosses aikido, judo and wrestling was developed in the Soviet Union as a combat sport.
It appears that he attacked her whilst in a drunken stupor and culminated his training session by lining her up against a door and throwing knives around her body, as he’d been taught in Afghanistan. Having had enough of the abuse, the lady picked up a hammer and smashed it into his head – who can blame her?
She dragged his body to their shed, and then, unsure if he was dead or alive, cut off his hands, legs and head – in that order. After popping his extremities into a trash bin, she took his torso to the reservoir and threw it over the side expecting it to sink. Unfortunately – for her that is – the body didn’t break the ice, and lay on the surface where it was spotted a short while afterwards.
Life in gaol awaits her. A sad case, really, as if she were driven to it then she’s hardly to blame. Of course, there’s no guarantee that her claims of abuse are true, but the rash endeavour to dispose of the body doesn’t suggest anything premeditated.
I know what you’re thinking: ‘premeditated’ is such a showy word. True, true. . . .
